The Wisconsin State Fail brings the best of the Dairyland State to West Allis, west of downtown Milwaukee, from July 31 to August 10, 2008. The 11 day event is packed with food, music, agricultural exhibits, midway rides, horticulture, crafts, culinary, cream puffs and fun, Entertainment and activities are enjoyed by children and adults alike. The popular event attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year. In 2007, over 800,000 fairgoers enjoyed lively entertainment at the fair. The theme for 2008 is "Grand Champion of Summer."
Agriculture is the heart and soul of the state fair. Over 10,000 animals are exhibited during the 11 day fair. Fairgoers have an unbelievable opportunity to learn about the largest industry in the Badger State. The Ag barn is filled with horses, goats, cattle, sheep, llamas, alpacas, swine, poultry and rabbits. Get up close to the animals. There is usually someone nearby who is happy to answer questions.
There is something for everyone at the fair. Browse through the livestock barns and see the variety of fuzzy bunnies, cattle or horses. Watch the judging of livestock. Displays and exhibits feature a variety of interest, arts and crafts.
Entertainment stages and exhibit areas include Cousins Subs Amphitheater, Assurant Health Family Variety Stage, Jeffrey Scott Activity Stage presented by 99,1 WMYX, World Cafe, Sports Zone, Horticulture Pavilion, Wisconsin Products Pavilion Stage, We Energies Energy Park,Slim McGinns, Brew City, Budweiser Music Pavilion, Charcoal Grill Roadhouse Stage, Carcovia, Miller Lite Park, Major Goolsby's Heartland Stage, Fiesta Garibaldi, Pitch's BBQ, Saz's Miller High Life Pavilion and more.
The Kids from Wisconsin have been putting on a variety show for 40 years. The current act will be performed twice a day on the Kids from Wisconsin stage. On the last day of this year's fair, the "Kids" have a reunion show, bringing performers from the past 40 years on stage for a special experience. The reunion show will be on the Main Stage on August 10.
The Main Stage of the Wisconsin State Fair features special musical guests. There is an additional ticket charge for the concerts at the Man Stage presented by Toyota. Tickets can be purchased through the official Wisconsin State Fair website, form Ticketmaster and from the ticket booth at the fairgrounds.
The fair offers a feast of entertainment for the price. General admission is $8 adults, $6 seniors and disabled, $3 youth (7-11) and Free for children 6 and under.
Ride All Day Wristbands for unlimited rides on the Midway can be purchased at the Wisconsin State Fair Box Office at the U.S. Cellular Main Gate or at the Wisconsin State Fair official website. "Ride all Day Weekday Wristbands are valid Monday through Thursday for one day only. Wristband purchased in advance (up to July 30) are $15. Tickets purchased during the fair are $20.
