The most famous water ski show in Wisonsin is probably the one in the Wisconsin Dells started by the late great Tommy Bartlett. Dubbed "The Greatest Show on H2O," tourists have been coming to see this show for generations. The show goes on all summer long with up to three performances a day. In 2007 the show has a pirate theme, drawing on the opening of the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean's third installment. Prices start at $8.00 for children and $15.00 for adults, with senior citizen rates or more deluxe seats as various options. Bartlett, a member of the Water Ski Hall of Fame in Florida, only ever water-skiied once in his life, on his 70th birthday. But he brought a tradition of water-ski shows to Wisconsin, which carries on across the state by others who share the same love for the sport.
The Dells does not have a corner on the market, as there are water ski shows all across the state, and most of them are free of charge. Wisconsinites have a bounty of lakes and like to get out and enjoy them when summer brings warm temperatures. The following is a partial list of water ski shows, check for any updated information before heading out to catch a show.
A couple tips for the water shows. Seating is different at each location, but it is probably wise to bring a blanket because many places do not have stands - you will be sitting on the beach or in the grass. Bring bug repellant and sun screen. Take binoculars for close-up views. And don't forget your camera and video camera!
