World's Largest Music Festival Entertainment on the Lake Front

Summerfest, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, celebrates it's 40th anniversary of festival fun, food, music, drink and entertainment on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Summerfest in Milwaukee,, Wisconsin, is a feast for the eyes, ears and senses. Summerfest of 2007, on the Lake Michigan lake front in Milwaukee is upon us. 2007 marks the 40th anniversary of the "World's Largest Music Festival" . The popular music festival runs from June 28 to July 8, 2007.

Ten stages of continuous music create harmonious tunes on the grounds, which cover 75 acres. Some of the most talented musicians in the world have performed at Summerfest over the years.

Festival goers can enjoy a leisurely walk across the grounds, listening to the sound of music surrounding them, while enjoying food and beverages from 45 different vendors. Every stage has a seating area, usually at picnic tables, inviting visitors to sit, have a beer or wine and a bite to eat while enjoying the sound of music from the stage.

A day spent at Summerfest is a leisurely, pleasurable activity. Music, food, drink, fun, games and shopping offer more than a full days worth of entertainment. In the evening the atmosphere can become quite lively, especially around the beer tents.

The Summerfest Grounds are on the Henry Maier Festival Park on the lakefront. The cooling breezes from the lake help to keep the temperature comfortable during the hot summer days. Festival goers often gather on the rocks overlooking the lake. This is a great vantage point to enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Michigan. People who enjoy people watching can enjoy a full day of watching the activity surrounding them.

There are ten stages of music, including The Marcus Amphitheater, The Miller Lite Oasis, The U.S. Cellular Stage with Leinenkugel's, Harley-Davidson Roadhouse with Miller Genuine Draft, M & I Bank Classic Rock Stage, Briggs 7 Stratton Big Backyard, Zippo Rock Stage and Potawotomi Bingo Casino Stage & Pavilion with Miller High Life and FM 106 and JoJo's Martini Lounge with Miller Lite.

This year's entertainers include well known musicians including. Steeley Dan, Def Leppard, Styx, Foreigner, The Fray with OKGo and Mae, Ludacris, Roger Waters, John Mayer, Tool, Bon Jovi, Panic, Toby Keith, The Goo Goo Dolls,Heart, Buddy Guy, The Black Crowe, Randy Travis, Los Lonely boys, Clay Walker, Daughtry and many more.

There are 45 food booths, featuring some of Milwaukee's finest food establishments. Ethnic food and American food is available throughout the grounds.Milwaukee is well known for it's great ethnic restaurants, so it is no surprise to find German, Mexican, Greek, Asian and Italian Food here. Feast on ribs, pizza, sausage, hot dogs, salads and fruit available. Beer and wine tents sell alcoholic beverages. Refreshing lemonade stands, soft drinks and flavored ice provide necessary hydration.

Four different marketplaces sell momentos, souvenirs, clothing, artwork, jewelry, candles, hats, t-shirts and much more.

Fireworks by Menard's Big Bang Fireworks light the skies on June 28 at 10:30 pm.

There is paid parking at the grounds, but many people in the know take advantage of the shuttles from remote parking lots. The advantage of the remote lots is that there is no charge for parking. There is a small fee for the shuttle ride. The shuttles run frequently and deliver festival goers right to the festival grounds.

Summerfest admission is $15 for adults (over 10) after 4 pm and weekends. Adults weekdays (noon to 4 pm) is $8. Seniors 60 and over $3. Children 3-10 when accompanied by adult $3. Seating at the Marcus Amphitheater is reserved and requires an additional ticket purchase from the box office (concert prices vary). The other music stages are included in the price of the admission to the festival grounds. There are festival admission specials, that change daily. There are several fine hotels in downtown Milwaukee, providing luxurious accommodations for overnight stays. People who plan to party late into the night, or who plan to attend multiple days, may want to consider staying near the festival grounds at a downtown Milwaukee hotel. Midwest Airlines is the official airline of Summerfest.

Milwaukee is a convenient drive of 60 to 90 minutes, from Chicago, Illinois.
