Summertime Festival Information in "Beer City" 2008 Season
Milwaukee celebrates summer with festivals, fireworks, music, food and more. The beautiful Lake Michigan lake front is the backdrop to many of Milwaukee's festivals. Following are some of the events that liven up Milwaukee in the summer. Festival dates updated for 2008.
Summerfest The World's Largest Music Festival
Summerfest music festival will run from June 26 to July 6, 2008 at the Henry Maier Festival Park. This is the 40th anniversary of the popular festival, the largest music festival in the world. The Lake Michigan lake front will be filled with the sounds of different styles of music,. Ten different stages are filled with music 45 different food and beverage vendors and four marketplaces offer entertainment for hours and hours.Lake Michigan breezes keep the grounds pretty comfortable on the hot summer days. .
Stroll through the grounds, have a beer or wine, and listen to performers on different stages. Every stage has tables and chairs so visitors can have a bite to eat while relaxing and listening to tunes. . Beer vendors are always nearby. Milwaukee area restaurants serve food from booths set up around the grounds. Summerfest is a delightful day, with music, sunshine, lake views, food and fun.

- The Big Bang Fireworks show will take place on the "Summerfest grounds on June 26.
- Fourth of July Fireworks on Milwaukee's Lake Michigan lakefront. Crowds of people park and walk to the lakefront to watch this hour-long fireworks show The show is sponsored by U.S. Bank.
- Polish Fest, June 22-24 at the Summerfest Grounds. Billed as "The World's Largest Polish Fest". The festival is a tribute to the Polish immigrants and culture. There will be food, music folk art and family activities.
- Bastille Days, July 10-13: French street festival at Downtown's Cathedral Square. The charming Parisian festival has street performers, food, wine, arts, minstrels, artists, minstrels, parades, Storming of the Bastille and a 5 K run.
- Greek Fest July 11-13 Wisconsin State Fair Grounds.
- Festa Italiana at the Summerfest Grounds, Henry Maier Festival Park, July 17-20. Festa Italiana is a celebration of Italian food and culture with ten stages of entertainment and spectacular nightly fireworks.
- German Fest, at the Summerfest Grounds, Henry Maier Festival Park, July 24 -27: Ethnic celebration of the German culture with music food and entertainment.
- Wisconsin State Fair at the fairgrounds in West Allis, July 31- August 10: Eleven day fair with 30 stages of entertainment, food, animals and agriculture.
- Irish Fest at the Summerfest Grounds. August 14-17, 2008.
